legacy PROJECT
The Bob Beamon Legacy Project launches on Oct. 18, 2025 for the 57th Anniversary of his "Leap of the Century."
In 1968, Bob Beamon took flight in Mexico City and landed in history — a single, impossible leap that shattered the Olympic long jump record by nearly two feet. That moment wasn’t just measured in meters; it was measured in awe. It gave birth to a word — Beamonesque — now synonymous with greatness beyond limits.
From 1968 to today, his leap still resonates worldwide.
The Beam Man!
I thought my jumping 19 feet in high school was really something. Mr. Beamon was over 10 feet longer. The Beam Man!

Beamonesque!!!
I will never understand records that stand from that long ago... In every other event, records get destroyed because we have better running shoes, better supplements, better training mechanisms, and a better understanding of form. This makes no sense to me how a man from 1968 has a top 3 long jump to this day.

Unforgettable!!
Magnificent story. Unforgettable.
He seeks a victory... He has found his place in Olympus.
